How can I add content to the footer so that the items are evenly spread out in 3 or 4 columns instead of just one long column? See footer at http://www.iguanaacademy.com/ for explanation. Please provide specific noobe guidance as to where I can edit these settings. Thanks!

You can select various columns in footer from wplms > footer and then can add the widgets in the footer sidebar accordingly .You have both top and bottom footer to customize in wplms .

Alex, can you show me images to explain the footer "sidebar" and also "top" and "bottom" footer? I always thought there is one footer, and that is at the bottom of a webpage. Sorry for noobe questions.  ~Thanks

YEs there are two footer in wplms and if you add widgets in them they will become visible to you . refer for columns: http://prntscr.com/95woe8 Now you can goto wp-admin -> appearance -> widgets and can add the widgets in top footer sidebar and bottom footer sidebar .

Thanks, Alex. I found the page you guided me to, but have been unable to figure out how to add widgets/sidebars to the footers, and also how to edit the widgets/sidebars. Can you show me where and how? Thanks!
