Shortcode in the description of steps

I would like to make it easier for users to start/continue courses that are a part of the CLP. So I tried adding the course button shortcode for each course into description of the CLP steps. The course button shortcode works fine on the CLP page but when I use the CLP shortcode on another page, the course button shortcode no longer renders, it displays as a text.
