Well one if from old lms settings from v3 and other if the actual member type names "student".
In buddypress (Members), when I select "Student" as the default user, the selected boxes "Different menu location for students and instructors" and "Different menu location for each member type" are unchecked. When I select these two and the menus work, buddypress (members) default user "no default member type" is selected again!!! why
Different menu location for each member type should be checked there in wp-admin -> vibebp-> settings -> buddypress .
then you have to disable the Different menu location for students and instructors from lms-> settigns .
then you will have to select and set the menus .
Hello Alex, I think we're talking past each other :-( I've created another video in which I show the problem. The problem in a nutshell: If I select default user Student and save, the menu option fields are empty. If I click on this, the default user is no longer selected.

make sure that
[email protected] has student member type .
The problem is when I click on Student as a standard user, the ticks in the boxes disappear --> a different menu for the instructor and a different menu for each member type. If I then click on the two fields again, the student disappears under standard user. I can't click on both points at the same time. That means whoever registers is not a student, or vice versa. If the default user is set as a student, we can no longer customize the menus (e.g. for an admin or lecturer or student). I tried to show that in the video.
I could not understand with the given explanation which checkboxes you are ticking?
Enable the member types registration from wp-admin -> vibebp-> settings to allow register as member types in the registration in popup.
Or use a custom registration forms .
