Apologies for the misunderstanding.
You can change the default cover image from wp-admin->dashboard->sttings->bp profile cover->general.
Please enable 'Private Messaging' from wp-admin->dashboard->settings->BuddyPress->components.
Please set your default header background image from wp-admin->dashboard->wplms->header->Upload Default Background image.
While uploading image don't forget to click 'File Url' and 'Use This Image'.

First try resaving the permalinks from the wp-admin->dashboard->settings->permalinks

If you have applied this tip and checked the slug course-results or even course then the link on check results will work (This is a known issue and will be fixed in the update .)

In wplms only the course instructor and the student can access the activity/progress in the course.
I would recommend you to use the page specific css only, if you want to hide something .
Because there maybe a case when the css that you have added for the element on a page may affect other element on another page .
Please try adding the given css from wp-admin -> appearance -> customize -> custom css :
