    Its a blank, so it does not matter, because forum ID is checked before any output is made. However, did you edit an existing course from the sample data or the screenshot is from a new course.

    Every time I create a new unit, wplms automatically selects a nonexistent forum. I reproduce this error create one new unit in - http://vibethemes.com/demo/wplms/wp-admin/post.php?post=3937&action=edit Thanks

    As mentioned above It will considered as blank and no forum will be attached to the unit  when publish the unit .

    That this influence yes, one nonexistent forum is connected to the unit when saved.

    Yep this is an issue with the unit backend edit page . Thanks for reporting this issue .Fix will be in the next update of wplms theme this week .
