    On the checkout page there seems to be a mismatch somewhere because I get a message that says that the password is good and at the same time another message that says it's weak.  any ideas?

    Well this is woocommerce checkout page and the here the account is created by woocommerce only. Therefore try contacting woocommerce for this issue.
