Hi is it in any way possible to assign a badge for completing any x number of courses ? Best Michael

Yes it is possible with  the wplms with badgeOS addon but it is not working as of now ,we are trying to fix this and it is already in our issue log. However this would work as follows : Create a achievement steps like completing the course and  set the no. of times field in the achievements steps . Yes this has been fixed in the wplms badgeOs addon update . You can configure the awarding of badge after a given number of courses are completed .
