This is very confusing and I don't understand at all. So how can the issue be fixed? Because the issue is the same for all when we assigned the students to the courses.

Dear support, please help to fix this, all users regardless new or existing will have the same activity issue.
You can create a student account and test it.
I tried as you told me .As you can see the activity was recorded as well and the feature worked .

Without activity it will not work .Someone seems to delete that activity and without activity it will not work .
you have option to extend the duration of students from course admin .
