Google analytics page views doubling

I am using Modern theme. I have added the Google Analytics code to the footer. However, when I look at the Google Analytics (Real Time), it shows double the number of page views for every access to any page. Not sure whether theme executes the code twice. Any idea how I can correct this? Thanks.

Theme executes the code only once in wp_footer. The google calculates the page views, so this does not seems to be related to the theme.
