I've checked again and now you can access the staging ste with the credentials.
I've added the code line in the htaccess but it still doesn't work (with none of the either line).
I woud be very thankful if you found why I have this issue.

It's not the right site: it's staging-smu.smart-me-up.com. This is the staging site that mirrors the prod one.

Now it works. However, for your info, I had to copy-paste the theme and the htaccess from my staging site towards my prod site as only changing the settings (for the prod site to be the exact same ones as the staging site) didn't work at first. Not sure why, but what's important is that now it works fine on both sites.
