July 18, 2016 at 12:32 pm #58995learner4lifeParticipantHi, can you please suggest me how can I implement the following? Add a custom value/parameter to a course such that when a user visits the course but is not subscribed to the course, he is instead redirected to another course as set in that custom value/parameter? If it were a simple redirect to login page or something it would have been easier. But each course that I wish to restrict in above manner may take up different course pages that they land at. So it would have to be something linked to the course. Use Case: I wish to use it in conjunction with the WPLMS batches such that the I will only have one course with the product attached. The other courses that are part of the batch will redirect a non-subscribed member to the course with the product where as the subscribed members can continue to use that course as expected.July 19, 2016 at 2:29 pm #59231H.K. LatiyanParticipantA better alternative to this is that you create a product and connect it to all the batch courses and all the batch courses to this single product.July 20, 2016 at 3:50 am #59299learner4lifeParticipantLet me elaborate by an example. So for example there is a parent course that I wish to use only for informational purposes/as landing page (for SEO purposes that rarely change) - say P. And I want to offer three batches A, B, C with three courses PA, PB, PC (with different start times, slightly different content). Now since Batches don't support different curriculum yet, and I want to have some hierarchy so that I can optimize only one course for advertisements and SEO and other courses remain silent in the backend. So what I am planning to do is - Course P: Courses acts as landing page with full information, optimized etc. And contains A, B, C in the batches section. This is the course that the student buys. And after the course is activated he choses any one of the batch. Batch A: Has Course P and PA in it. After selecting Batch A, student will have access to both Course P and PA. Course P will be just dormant and actual study will happen in PA - which will have limited information - specific only to that batch. Same goes for Batch B and C where students will actually study Course PB and PC while having access to Course P but with little to no use. So that's why ideally I was thinking of keeping Course PA, PB, PC as hidden and private (without any product) so that there is no confusion among prospective students. And even if a direct link to course PA, PB or PC was shared by someone - the non-subscribed student will be redirected to Course P where all the information will be available. Does this make sense? It is my attempt to have makeshift arrangement for different curriculums in different batches. Please let me know what you think of it or if there is any other better way of doing it that comes to your mind.July 20, 2016 at 2:47 pm #59423H.K. LatiyanParticipantWe already have a filter for Curriculum. The filter can detect the student batch and load the curriculum from batch meta value. So, all we need to do is save the curriculum in batch meta. Curriculum section will be undergoing changes in the upcoming update to support multiple curriculum types, after which we will be adding the front end panel to control curriculum for batches. If it is very urgent for you, a quick solution can be implemented but it would only work from admin panel. We can add a switch in batch settings to copy curriculum from other course which would overwrite the curriculum for batch students. Let me know if it makes sense.July 20, 2016 at 2:49 pm #59424H.K. LatiyanParticipantWhat you are suggesting is not possible but a better approach is what I shared above.July 20, 2016 at 8:28 pm #59495learner4lifeParticipantHi Latiyan, yes that quick solution would be great! I can manage things from admin panel and no rush for the front end control. As long as everyone is still part of the same course but different batches have different curriculum, my requirements are met. Happy to help and implement any code on the website (management has made sharing admin credentials a big hassles these days) Currently we are doing different courses for different batches and its beginning to create chaos and cofusion; also hurting our SEO and conversions. For eg:http://neostencil.com/course/mitrapal_15671/ http://neostencil.com/course/mitrapal_24527/ http://neostencil.com/course/mitrapal_32158/ These are three different courses for the same subject, whereas ideally they should have been just one course with January, March and August Batch. So your solution seems to be right on line of what we need.July 22, 2016 at 12:08 pm #59882H.K. LatiyanParticipantUnfortunately, it is double effort for us. It would be really great if you can simply wait for the update as all the developers are busy in the upcoming theme update at the moment.July 22, 2016 at 4:14 pm #59954learner4lifeParticipantHi Latiyan, its really an important and urgent requirement for me. And I was waiting for your approach as per your response: "If it is very urgent for you, a quick solution can be implemented but it would only work from admin panel. We can add a switch in batch settings to copy curriculum from other course which would overwrite the curriculum for batch students. Let me know if it makes sense."
It is indeed very urgent and am happy to work with you in any way I can or even pay extra if you find it necessary. But please help me out in figuring this.

If I could, I would have certainly waited - have been waiting since last year October. But the situation is so urgent that I started making makeshift arrangements around different curriculums for batches.

July 25, 2016 at 5:36 am #60228learner4lifeParticipant@Latiyan yes, it is very urgent. Could you please share how to implement this quick fix as suggested by you? ""If it is very urgent for you, a quick solution can be implemented but it would only work from admin panel. We can add a switch in batch settings to copy curriculum from other course which would overwrite the curriculum for batch students. Let me know if it makes sense."July 25, 2016 at 1:31 pm #60376H.K. LatiyanParticipantYes I understand its very urgent for you, and we will give you the quick fix for this. But we need 1 more day to write the code as its not an easy code and there are lot of other work also. So I'll provide you the code by tomorrow. Thanks for the patience.July 25, 2016 at 4:10 pm #60444learner4lifeParticipantThanks Latiyan, appreciate it.July 27, 2016 at 11:49 am #60832learner4lifeParticipantHi Latiyan, any updates on the quick fix please?July 27, 2016 at 2:30 pm #60884H.K. LatiyanParticipantWe were trying for the quick fix, we gave our 2 hours yesterday and 3 hours today on this to make it work but its not working. The theme needs to be updated to make it work. So I am sorry we will not be able to provide you the quick fix. You have waited long for this feature and you'll have to wait a little more for the theme update to implement this feature.July 27, 2016 at 3:50 pm #60903learner4lifeParticipantThat's sad. Can you tell when will it be possible? ie when is that theme update coming out?July 29, 2016 at 2:34 pm #61317Anshuman SahuKeymasterWell we are working on the theme update and it will take around 2 weeks .
