November 25, 2015 at 1:12 am #10473isigmaSpectatorI'm having issues with the Gallery shortcode interfering with the WP gallery (image sizes are not being displayed correctly). How to shut down the Gallery shortcode completely? Honestly I do not understan the idea behind that shortcode. What are the benefits of using it, but not the WP internal Gallery?November 25, 2015 at 1:05 pm #10578Anshuman SahuKeymasterPlease note that wplms do not have support for the wordpress gallery shortcode as of now ,so even disabling the gallery shortcode will not make the wordpress gallery shortcode to work . YOu have to use the gallery shortcode of wplms as of now . CAn you please create a feature request for this here : https://wplms.io/support/forums/forum/general/feature-request/ You can use other gallery plugins for thisNovember 26, 2015 at 7:05 pm #10829isigmaSpectatorthere is no difference in the WPLMS shortcode comparing to the WP one. Am I right? E.g. it doesn't matter if I create a gallery via WP Add Media, or the WPLMS shortcode (which is a pain in the ass to fish for attachment codes), the resulting code is the same. The problem is that the resulting gallery is not size friendly. For example with my WP settings for thumbnail size 300px square, the gallery shows tiny 120px and not square images, despite the fact that it looks correct in the course backend editor. So how can I make a three column gallery which fills the entire container width with square thumbnail images?November 27, 2015 at 9:40 am #10920MrVibeKeymasterThe Request has been received and there is no quick fix available "right now" to fix this as per the said requirements. Since we have not received any requests (apart from this one) on this shortcode, this topic will be moved to feature requests section. As of now you need to try out third party plugins to fill the gap.December 4, 2015 at 8:28 am #12163isigmaSpectatorThis doesn't sound serious. You do not need any request to realize that if you shut down the native functionality, adding your own solution, it should at least work properly. Why do I need extra plugins, if WP gallery works well? The theme already has enough plugins to slow down the site, plus those, I need to implement my project functionality. I just can't get a pleasant look with the gallery solution, which you included into the theme. Please tell me, how the embedded gallery is suppose to work. Also check the attached screenshot and let me know if the gallery looks: modern, appropriate, compatible to the WP solution.December 4, 2015 at 12:24 pm #12216Anshuman SahuKeymasterThanks for highlighting we will be adding support for the wp gallery in next update of the wplms .December 4, 2015 at 6:02 pm #12270isigmaSpectatorI'm really glad to hear that. Can you reveal your plans according to WPLMS v2? So far I adjusted the code to support onsite courses, but was happy to see you announced the offline courses support in v2. As I'm still using a different theme on the live project and making transition to WPMLS on the lochalhost, it'll be a great help to know and approximate date of the v2 launch.December 9, 2015 at 5:10 am #12900Anshuman SahuKeymasterYep this switch will be available in wplms version 2.0 .January 27, 2016 at 9:07 am #21566isigmaSpectatorwhere can I find the mentioned switch in 2.0?January 28, 2016 at 5:58 am #21963H.K. LatiyanParticipantGallery shortcode has been updated and now it works with default wordpress gallery.January 28, 2016 at 7:53 am #22026isigmaSpectatorIT DOESN'T WORK!!! Check how it looks in WP style (correct thumbnail size, 3 imgs in a row, cropped to square), and via LMS (incorrect thumbnail size, squeezed to square without proportion, and 5 in a row). I keep asking, but you do not answer: what was the reason to block WP gallery? - Did you improve it? NO - Did you make it easier to work with? NO - Did you add any functionality? I don't see it. Did you just need another shortcode in your list? Instead you made it unpleasant and difficult to work with media on the site that is loaded with images!!! I WANT WP GALLERY BACK, AS YOU PROMISED! I do not want to update my existing site to WPLMS yet, as I do not agree to make my project looking less appealing than it is now. I've been customizing your design and cleaning small glitches for more than 6 months now. I do not want to use any additional gallery plugin, as the code of the project is heavy enough already, and I'm happy with the native gallery. I do not also want to edit shortcodes in hundreds of existing posts to switch to a different gallery solution. If you think that it is OK to shut down the native functionality of WP which you did not create without giving a choice, then you're wrong. I consider this approach at least not an elegant coding. I'd shut your shortcode by myself, but: - you promised a switch in settings two months ago; - I can't fix it in the child code, as your gallery is in the plugin as well. Which means I'll have to compare and edit your plugin after each update, and I have other things to put my time onto. Please reply.January 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm #22233MrVibeKeymasterYou're clearly mistaken or have done an improper update or have not updated at all. I checked this and it works fine. p.s : Please mark your tone. This feature was added on your request and personally think we've made a mistake. If this does not help, please use a third party plugin and resolve this issue.January 28, 2016 at 11:33 pm #22459isigmaSpectatorWhat else can I do in this situation, when the media content look ugly? And you do not keep your promises. I waited and postponed my project transition to WPLMS for 2 months after you reassured me to fix the problem. "<span style="color: #4b4d4d; font-family: Lato; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px;">This feature was added on your request and personally think we've made a mistake. If this does not help, please use a third party plugin and resolve this issue."</span> No, you promised a switch to WP gallery, instead your shortcode is still taking over the WP functionality. Even on your screenshot the smalls are not the thumbnail size. 1. They are unacceptably tiny even on desktop screen. What to expect on tablets? Image has to speak for itself! More than 80% people on internet never open images full size in galleries, unless they like the preview. Preview size is a core for Google Image, SmugMug etc services. It is impossible to see images is your small size. Why do we at all set the thumbs size in WP->Settings->Media? You killed the entire WP idea of choosing the right set of media sizes. Which also relates to the site speed. 2. They were packed into squares without proportion, but not cropped. It may work for ad blocks, but not for photos. Can you imagine the beauty of a shrunk portrait? YES I'M SHOUTING, AS I'M MAD THAT YOU KILLED NATIVE WP FUNCTIONALITY WITHOUT GIVING A CHOICE TO US CUSTOMERS!!! If there will be a switch to use your gallery instead of the WP one, then it's OK. If your gallery would be a separate from other shortcodes plugin, then it's OK, as I can decide to shut down the plugin and live with the WP gallery. =========== Besides It's the fifth time I'm asking you about the reason to create your own gallery shortcode, which doesn't give any extra functionality, but you're giving me no answer. I think in a real conversation, I'd feel like you're either ignoring me, or do not respect. I would not shout, I'd turn around and leave. Here I have to fix the problem, the least I have is to use capital letters!January 29, 2016 at 12:04 am #22462isigmaSpectatorI updated the theme and WPLMS three times, by deleting old theme and plugin folders and adding new ones: 1. strange mix of 1.9.9.1 and 2.0 just after 2.0 was anounced 2. 2.0 from full package, including Modern child, which did not pick up the stylesheet 3. 2.0.1 + all the plugins including today's ones + modern theme which already works with own stylesheet.January 30, 2016 at 2:37 pm #23261MrVibeKeymasterFirstly the native WP Gallery script does not open in popup. refer video If that's what you want then you can simply rename the Gallery shortcode in the Vibe shorcodes plugin, we'll manually remove it from your site. The new gallery plugin included in the update supports "columns" and "size" parameter, however, the size is not exactly the same as that of wordpress images because it is not required as per theme design. In the new version you can create a gallery images as big as the full screen. However, if you set image size as "big" and in a small area like widget sidebar, set columns as 5, the images will squeeze to smaller sizes as the precedence of columns is higher than image size. It would be great what exactly does not work in the gallery which you need.
