Student login redirect

I want the first page that loads to be the wp-login page, then next it goes to the homepage after user login, how can I implement this?

Hi there, I did as you instructed but what I really want is to redirect a user/student to a specific page (where they select a course category) and proceed from there. Please show me how to do that. Thanks
