February 26, 2016 at 1:13 pm #32381JaysdSpectatorHi I love the theme but we are having a hard time with the updates. Every time you release an update, and it updates, many plugins stop working, sometimes it even changes all my fonts styles. This is really a huge headache as we need to put everything the way it was before the upgrade. There is some way to avoid it? Is it a bug that maybe you can fix? It is becoming really annoying. Last update it did, all my home page was gone and I need to put everything back in place! This is just insane. Also, when I bought the theme I thought that all the plugins would be included on the price. But the reality is that some of the plugins, only will update and work again, if you pay for it apart to have the key code. Woocommerce is asking for the upgrade for a long time now, but I didn't buy it as for now I don't need it, but I will need on the future. Visual composer would not work unless I buy the key. And I did buy it because I needed them to be working again, so I paid $43.20 for the plugin key. Now, LayerSlider WP is not working as well! There, is saying that it needs an update and if you bought a theme that came already with it, the theme updates should come with the latest version of the LayerSlider WP. Well, I did the last wplms update and it didn't update that plugin, so I am wondering, is this another plugin that I will need to pay for it as well to have it working again? I think you should have this on the description when we buy the theme, so we know that not everything that come with it is included on the price and future purchases will be needed. It is becoming very expensive. Thank you JenniFebruary 26, 2016 at 5:03 pm #32431a4daSpectatorI have the exact same problems you have, I hate to even update at all because of the issues you mention but after a while you have to update otherwise certain things wont work. Although it is a great theme. The updates aren't worth it and I am in need of another LMS website but afraid to purchase another WPLMS because of these issues.. I have spent more hours fixing the site than its worth. As you mention I hope Vibethemes can give us some insight on your issues. Also Im not a web designer or developer but feel like I have to hire one due to all the issues that come up. So if you know of any please let me know. It is likely that it may create problems in site . But if the updates are done properly then you may not face may if the issues . We always recommends to update both the theme and plugins alltogether. Re-save the permalinks and clear browser cache . Also there there were issues with the third party plugins that we provide (like visual composer ,eventon etc) itself that were causing issues in site of the users . About the plugins issue . Please note that the third party plugins like visual composer ,layer slider,revolution slider are bundled with the theme and we provide the latest version of all of these with the latest wplms theme whenever the theme is updated . But these plugins cannot be updated in traditional way . Please refer this tip to update these plugins : https://wplms.io/support/knowledge-base/how-to-update-visual-composer/ Same tip would apply for the Eventon,layer slider plugins . So we always include latest version of these plugins at that time in the theme on each theme update . Sometimes these plugins releases update after we have released the updates so they show notification to update them . But the new version of these plugins will be available only with the next theme update now . If you want plugin update in urgent then simply create a topic in support forums ,We will provide you the plugin (only in case of emergencies) . Hi @a4da, Your most of the issues were caching and server related that we were unable to replicate on our test and demo sites . Some of the issues may also related to your customizations . If you try a different host with new setup with no caching(that we does not recommends) these issues may not appear .February 28, 2016 at 12:48 am #32689a4daSpectatorThank you for your response. But to be clear I am not a developer or web designer so i do not know coding or even what caching is. I only do what I read on this forum or directions I I get from Vibethemes when i ask questions on this forum. because I dont know how to do anything If a customization was done it was by the instructions of vibethemes so when an update occurs vibe themes should consider taking into account the customizations that YOU gave instructions for me to do when i asked for help. Again I appreciate your help and your theme but when an update happens I would think since the customizations came from Vibethemes suggestions, the customizations wouldnt be a problem that screws up my site. Im just trying to understand what needs to be done so when the next update comes out there isnt a problem. Should there never be customizations because it may possible cause a problem with something in the update?? My last issue that had my site not working for 3 days was caused by installing My Eventon plugin and following your tutorial but no where in your tutorial did it say to make sure the lms- settings- Course home settings under General tab must be set to "EVERYONE" which I never changed because i dont even know what it is. and I only figured out the issue on my own after 3 days by reading forum after forum because Vibe themes said the first day they reset permalinks and it was working which it wasnt working on the student side but it was working on the admin side. Vibe themes has never said which cache plug in they recommend to use or I would use it. And when you say reset permalinks, I have no idea what that means?? again Im just asking that when you do an update or add a new feature give instructions on every step so that your theme can be used by other people than just developers and wed designers. Sorry to take up your time with this long response but I hope it helps give a little insight from the customers perspective that is not a developer. Thank you for your theme and all you do it is truly appreciated.February 29, 2016 at 6:36 am #32769Anshuman SahuKeymasterAs i mentioned earlier recent 2.0 update was a major update with many breaking changes in the theme architecture . Now further updates would not cause any such breaking issues in your site . For updating i would suggest to setup a replica of your site on localhost or on server with staging . refer : https://wplms.io/support/forums/topic/how-to-create-wp-staging-environment/ on this staging or on you localhost you can test the updates . and move forward with your online site with updates once you are confirmed that the update is not causing issues on your local and staging site.March 1, 2016 at 1:37 pm #33157a4daSpectatorThank you thats a great idea. Thats another one of those hidden gems i didnt know existed. I wish you all had a user's guide on all the features your theme offers, im sure there are more features i am unaware of our don't know how to install so i.dont use them but want to. I know you show some of the new features on you tube but not all. I know your busy but when you can, can you please explain what you mean by "reset permalinks" i raff that often and dont know what they are supposed to be originally or know what you mean by "reset permalinks" . That page is different from when i first installed wplms. Thank you for all your help. I have put in a feature request in but 1 big thing that holds me back from purchasing another wplms for a new site is how the student-course and event aren't linked. My students MUST do course online and also attend the event. Thank youMarch 2, 2016 at 6:05 am #33240Anshuman SahuKeymasterYes we will certainly update our documentation for the new features . About Reset permalinks . Permalinks settings are the most important settings in wordpress and it is needed to save again when some kind of major settings related to the custom post types have been done like when the theme is activated course,quiz, etc custom post types are added so permalinks are needed to be saved for them . To reset permalinks goto wp-admin -> settings -> permalinks . and save the permalinks to postname(which is required settings for buddypress and wplms is buddypress based theme). Events in course are linked to the courses and you can add more functionality to this by using Eventon addons . Example : You can make users to buy the event by using the Eventon tickets addon plugin . When user is in course then she can view events in the events tab of course menu .
