So, I installed and activated the localization plugin and preserver plugin. I tried to edit certain translations in the vibe plugin module (after rescanning of course) and I followed the steps located here. That said, NONE of the things I translated have changed. FREE was translated to SIGNUPS OPEN and still says free. Any instance of Marks was translated to Points and still says Marks, etc. None of my translations worked.

Can you please make sure you have regenerated .mo file after the translation. If this does not help, please share site url as well as admin credentials to check the issue on your setup. Make sure to mark reply as private.

Thanks for sharing the credentials, I checked your site and found out that the .mo file is not generated. I click on generate mo file button but its not updated, refer: http://prntscr.com/c4u1yn It seems like I don't have the permission to write the .mo files. So please go to your wp-content folder and set all the folder and sub folder permission to 755. Then check the issue. Also make sure the plugins folder is present inside the wp-content/languages folder. Let me know if this helps.

I will check that in a bit, currently travelling. But before I go changing folders and sub folders to those permissions, I need to know if that is a security risk... I mean giving you my creds was a risk, I just don't want to make my site open to take overs and such, you know?

No there is no risk in changing the folder permission to 755, just make sure you never give the permission to 777 otherwise any hacker can access it but other permission such as 755 are safe.

Do the files need to be writable too or just the directories and sub-directories?

Okay so I did the folders and all the sub folders to 755. Still no change. It still says the update was 8/10/16 ... so, it's still not updated. Do the files need to be set to 755 as well?

Also, refer to the screenshot. For whatever reason, there is no "Languages" folder inside wp-content. I checked the plugins folder too, just to see and it's not there either. So, because of that I downloaded WP from the wordpress website, just to check the file and folder structure and make sure my install wasn't off. And, inside the downloaded WP extracted folder, there is no "Languages" folder included in WP-Content. There isn't one in wp-admin or wp-includes either.

This hasn't had a response for two days. Wondering if there is a fix for this or if we know what the issue is?

Apologies for delayed response. Can you please share your FTP credentials to check the issue. Mark reply as private when sharing credentials.

I'm not entirely sure how the FTP credentials will help you as I explained that even the current version of WordPress, when downloaded and installed, doesn't include a "languages" folder. I showed that in the screen shots. Please don't take that as a rude comment, just stating an opinion. At any rate, my ftp credentials are as follows: HOSTNAME: ftp.hogexrpg.com USERNAME: hogexrpgcom PW: x1#94tHk5! WP is installed on the root directory located at "/".

The issue on your setup is that you do not have any global languages folder. So please follow these steps: 1) Please create a folder "languages" in the wp-content folder. 2) Now go to wp-content/languages folder and now create two new folder "plugins" and "themes" 3) Now sync the translations and then try to translate the plugins and theme.   This is because the wordpress first checks the translations from the global languages folder, if the global languages folder is not present or the files are missing then the wordpress takes the default translation set by the theme or plugin.

How exactly do I sync the translations?
