October 21, 2015 at 5:27 am #3885MrVibeKeymasterWPLMS will be supporting Offline Courses. We need suggestions from users on how to add enrolment, course progress etc. Current you can: a. Search courses via location b. Search courses via start course date. With eventOn integration you can add events to courses.October 21, 2015 at 12:46 pm #3976deadelfujiamaSpectatorHello Mr. Vibe At this moment i planning with my team this features. We have some difference between online selling and offline selling. The real power behind wplms will be work here for blended education. I write some suggestion: 1) In europe it's most famous offline course directory > emagister.com maybe here you can find some ideas :) 2) If we add a final quiz to offline course we can set progress and results and assign certificate from offline course 3) people can create "education center profile" different from "teacher" who can use to create "in house course" 4) I don't know if calendar visualization will be the best solution, i think that a block course solution can be simply integrated, where block can be positioned from date, partecipant, in a grid or carousel ecc.. 5) From experience with a lot of education center managing, it's very very very hard buy a event ticket for an expensive educational program online. In this area i suggest to add a "contact form" to ask information or set an appointment 6) "offline course page" in my opinion will be similar to course page with some difference such as a event, but we can hide curriculum and add a "program" If you can share some ideas or page test, i can give you more suggestion :DOctober 22, 2015 at 8:21 am #4113ZYMediaSpectatorHi Mr. Vibe, I'm also trying to implement offline payment for courses, with our students being handed a unique course code when payment is completed. I need help with the implementation part. I'd like to be able to take out the "Take this Course" button, and thus do away with the shopping cart altogether and instead just have the student input their course code to be accepted into the course. I also wanted to have the course code be a unique alphanumeric code for each student (for better control) so if there is a way to automatically upload these codes as csv and have the system validate against this csv that would be great. I'd appreciate some guidance on this. thanks!October 23, 2015 at 8:09 am #4304MrVibeKeymaster@ deadelfujiama, @ZYMedia : Thanks for these wonderful suggestions.
- With the new FrontEnd Course creation, we'll be able to implement Event Creation within Front End.
- Instead of Take this Course, we can an optional for contact form to consult instructor
October 23, 2015 at 8:17 am #4308ZYMediaSpectatorI like the idea of the system checking a user via the csv and then allocating the student to the course immediately, or if student is not yet registered, create the new user and added to course :) Can we implement it soon? Re tracking course progress, for our needs that's where we utilize the LMS itself, with auto evaluation of quizzes. It's only in the final exams that we do the manual rating because we usually incorporate essay type questions for finals. Upon passing the final exam, instructor provides approval for the student to receive certification and sends the student a code to access their final rating and certificate online.October 23, 2015 at 9:06 am #4336ZYMediaSpectatorCan you help us implement the csv validation of registration with direct course enrollment? We'd like to test this as soon as possible. Right now we do a 2 step approach based on the limitations of our coding experience and the way the theme works: 1- We utilize wp-invites to input the activation key per student then 2- Once registered the student finds his course from the directory and enters his course code. Having this in just one step will be a huge boost for us. thanksOctober 23, 2015 at 9:49 am #4337deadelfujiamaSpectatorYes ZYMedia probably this will be good solution. A nice suggestion will be add a "pay per performance" features. Example: i will add a education center who will pay not for sales but for every information request that receive over their courses. To may all more simple, i suggest to create a front-end course creation different from online and offline courses. In this case for offline courses we need to create a course curriculum without content because content will share offline, it will be possible? Other things, i think that will be good to create a new template page where we can find offline courses with this filter geo and start date, separated from advanced course search. Last thing: In this moment wplms will become a very complete solution for every type of training program, do you think that will be a good solution add some feature such as "sponsored course" ore a "flag" added on block course which can differentiate "new course", "trend course" ecc?October 24, 2015 at 12:54 pm #4733MrVibeKeymaster" csv validation of registration with direct course enrollment" is already available in LMS - Settings - Import. In this case for offline courses we need to create a course curriculum without content because content will share offline, it will be possible? Yes this is possible. For course progress we got a suggestion from a user : a. Every offline course is built using Course Events. b. As the events pass the course progress for the users of the course is completes. This would be more effective when we add batches. c. Do we need any kind of Attendance system ? We had users requesting this for offline courses as well.October 24, 2015 at 1:06 pm #4740ZYMediaSpectatorAttendance system definitely! We were looking at a modified time logger but were not sure how to combine it with the theme. One other feature we'd most like to have is a peer rating system for specific activities/assignments that involve group work.November 15, 2015 at 11:06 am #8744ZYMediaSpectatorHi Mr. Vibe, Further to my email about our requirements on the Assignment Portion. We're trying to implement more interactivity between students, so we're looking at using assignments and essay type assignment in particular as a way to get students to discuss. We're looking at the groups function and how we could require students to discuss and rate each other's assignments within the group, and hopefully make this a condition (the rating and remarks part as well as the submission) before they are allowed to move on to the next lesson. Hopefully you can add this function some time in the next few updates.November 16, 2015 at 10:58 pm #8983jakubkaneraSpectatorYou may want to offer more than distant (offline) courses choice. I am offering following options to my instructors and students: - online courses - distant (offline) courses - tutoring - skype courses and tutoring - corporate courses (for employees, package of several courses for a fixed price or subscription fee) When are you planning this feature, in version 2.0? I suggest it would really help if you could search courses by the following options or if you can ad a feature for instructors - how to create multiple options and ordering when creating courses. Also sorting by location and course start.January 21, 2016 at 7:28 am #19597MrVibeKeymasterMarked as resolved in 2.0 update. Refer link for further details : https://wplms.io/support/offline-courses-in-wplms-2-0/February 23, 2016 at 5:36 am #31135isigmaSpectatorI'd like to bring to discussion following thoughts about offline courses, and its implementation. I've used different products to support and market my school since 2009. Till 2014 it was primarily onsite education with short term and long term classes and tours. That's why I know what functionality I need to offer an effective from marketing/booking offline education, and to make students interested and happy with the online support part. The latter is implemented by WPLMS so well and thoughtfully, that It worth my time on adapting my many years 'monster' for WPLMS (or, both). Thank you for WPLMS. Now about the newborn feature - offline courses. Main difference in presenting online and offline classes 1. Offline education always has dates of the start and end, plus schedule for sub events (lessons, meetings, tour day points, etc.). Presentation with flexible search and sorting by dates is invaluable for shopping students, to find what fits their own schedule. 2. For offline classes duration category is very important, as it helps to separate long term classes (tour, course) from short term ones (lection, webinar, seminar, workshop), and pick the right product, fitting own schedule, and style of education 3. Offline always has a physical location. It is not that important if all the classes take place in the same venue, but for educational tour , and aggregation courses from different schools, and teachers, it is critical. How it practically works for OFFLINE classes in my projects on other LMS systems 1. Dates - it is important to be able to sort the directory by the course start date. I know, it is not the simplest query from the DB. Check events-manager-extended plugin, where it was coded in early 2009! - adding filter 'future courses' only shows nice and simple directory, where the soonest class is on the top. //as of now we hope that visitor is smart enough to use future/past date filter option to filter off future courses. I think it is longer, and for more specific searches. I'd like an option in the filter widget to show "show only future" checkbox. - start date, plus and date for multi day classes has to stay in the course description/directory always, even whet it's expired. It shows the progress of the school. - Buy/Take button should be available till the start day (or via switch - till end date), allowing students to book it any time before the course start, or even jump in after the beginning. What we have now came from the online courses, and doesn't work for offline courses: both the displaying of the date(s), and the Take course button logic. - there is a need for eye catching timetable for the (primarily, as they have dates) classes, so students see what is coming soon. It can be a new (or more flexible old one) widget to display future classes with dates. With today's WPLMS I'm solving this via EventOn Basic Calendar widget + a dedicated page Event Calendar, but it requires duplicating courses (at least titles and dates) in EventOn. 2. Course duration category - The Course Duration (or Course Type) taxonomy turned out to be practical for me. I adapted existing Location taxonomy for this. For now I need sorting by duration more than by location, although displaying the location is great for some classes. If you will fully implement another sortable taxonomy, it'll help. At least adding the setting for Location slug (in WPLMS updates the todo list) will make it work. 3. Location We have it, unless, as in my case it got stolen to be used as Duration. Some other aspects offline classes 1. Sometimes schedule for sub events is being adjusted on the go (public holidays, sudden opportunities, sick students…) We do not have any class subschedule, but it can be handled via EvenOn events. 2. Sometimes students are being added to the class while it's already in progress. I'm not sure if the instructor is allowed to add students after the start date, or does date influence the instructor's ability to manage student lists. It is great that we have the managing option! 3. There is nothing more sweet for the business owner, and very motivating in sales as a sign "Sold out" for 100% booked classes. Both in directory instead of the price, and on the course description page instead of the Take course button, for non course students. I hope it is helpful, and one day will be implemented. Again, these are small things which value a lot,as it turned out from my experience.March 3, 2016 at 1:49 pm #33650a4daSpectatorNot sure if appropriate to put comment in this area but I have been following this topic in hopes of help . My courses are a blend of online and offline. Students do there coursework online and are also required to attend a class in person (offline/Event) but there is no way to link the 2/ The eventon does not help with this at all besides list the Even/Class dates which I already had a Schedule page. I have been reading forum after forum for years and added feature requests for this trying to find a way to integrate the event and the course with no success. I would just like you all to consider this when trying to develop and improve the offline courses. Thank youMarch 3, 2016 at 5:29 pm #33705isigmaSpectatorHow do you see a perfect blend, and what options are you missing? I'd like to know how different people approach this need. -
