I don't think I was clear on this post to allow more than one author: https://wplms.io/support/forums/topic/how-to-displayallow-more-than-one-instructor-for-a-class/. I need all authors to be able to edit the course. This doesn't allow any authors except main one to edit the course per the video you recommended on that post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zaw277pvaig

Yes the instructor can only edit her own course .The author that is added with the help of the co author plus can only edit the course page,Change the curriculum etc only from the back end . Edit course option will not be visible to the co author of the course . Co author can manage students in course and admin options will be available for her from front end but she cannot edit the course in front end . To edit the course she must goto backend .

Wait....just to clarify...you said co-author can't edit the actual course but at the end you said: To edit the course she must goto backend . The co-author can edit the course? What we need is for two authors to write one course and disply both their names as authors.

Edit course option will not be visible to the co author of the course on the front end of the site . refer : http://prntscr.com/9n3od6 In the above screenshot there is edot course page on the front end which will not be visible to the co author but will be visible to the original author . however co author can edit the course from back end wp-admin -> all courses -> select course -> edit it. refer : http://prntscr.com/9n3oro

Oh, so co-author can do everything including edit the course. The only thing co-author can't do is click the "edit" button from the front end? Only the author will see that button but co-author can edit course from back-end. Is that correct?
