May 27, 2016 at 8:33 am #50539ulysseswSpectatorHi, Take for example, a course is $100, and instructor commission is 80%. And a student pays by credit card to purchase the course. My question is: When the commission is calculated for the instructor, does it factor in the credit card processing fee PayPal charges? Scenario 1: Does not take into account PayPal credit card processing fee: Instructor commission = 80% x $100 = $80. Scenario 2: Take into account PayPal credit card processing fee: If processing fee is 4%, then the new amount received by the system is $96. Then instructor commission is 80% x $96 = $76.80. Which of the above scenario is correct? Thanks.May 28, 2016 at 12:15 pm #50758Anshuman SahuKeymasterWell our commission calculation is based on the woocommerce hooks . It is based on the pricing that is provided by the woocommerce " woocommerce_order_status_completed " hook . So the pricing part is covered by the woocommerce whether it handles the paypal processing fees or not . Try contacting woocommerce plugins support on this . We fetch the product price by line total of that order . and calculate the pricing also in case any discount coupon is applied .May 29, 2016 at 2:35 am #50787ulysseswSpectatorThanks Alex. I believe since in that case, the price WPLMS use to calculate the commission, is based on the "gross" price amount. Which is the price the instructor set in the product. Because i think woocommerce does not take into account the PayPal credit card processing fee. However for discounts coupons, woocommerce takes into account.May 30, 2016 at 3:02 pm #50966Anshuman SahuKeymasterYou are correct in finding this use case . WPLMS as such does not have any payment process. Commissions are calculated based on woocommerce order value and WPLMS relies on WooCommerce feeback for the exact amount paid. The issue originally lies in how woocommerce calculates the order value at the end of the payment process as this value is picked by wplms for commission calculation. As of now there is no solution for this ,however i am adding this to our issue log so that we can find a fix for this in future if possible .September 20, 2016 at 8:42 am #71146EmanuelGTParticipantWhat about taxes, and handling fees added to the checkout? are they added to the instructor's commissions?? Use this as an example:
- Course gross price (defined by instructor) $100
- at checkout, woocommerce will add a handling fee = $10
- and it will calculate 15% TAX on the total = $16.50
- total payment = $126.50
