    I am receiving this error Fatal Error: Call to unidentified function bp_activity_get() after the update and the students are unable to pursue the course.

    The error suggests that the activity component is disabled in your buddypress component, please go to wp-admin->settings->buddypress->components, and make sure the activity component is enabled.
