Front End Product Creation Customization

I want to be able to assign a new product to a category that's been created in woocommerce so that I can effectively sort created content by category. I checked around but can't find a way to list all courses under a particular category outside of woocommerce and within wplms so I resorted to using woocommerce to list the courses however, there is no category option when creating a product for the courses/classes. Can anyone help or give me some pointers.   Ultimately I'm just looking to list a row or slider of content sorted by category on a page. Thanks.
