I can't work out if I'm being really dim or not... I've got some free units for my courses. Example: http://writershq.co.uk/course/manuscript-submission-get-published http://writershq.co.uk/course/novel-editing-kick-your-first-draft-into-shape But to get from one unit to the next, the user has to navigate back to the course curriculum and then click on the next unit. Is there a way of automatically generating a "next unit" link? I thought that was a standard feature?

Please refer this video tutorial on student flow in wplms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFtX9ussRKk In this tutorial the student first purchases the course, but in your case the course is free. Still the student needs to click on start course button and go to course status page to see full course timeline and the next unit link etc. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the video - very helpful. So the student must click on start course to enter the full course timeline. In that case, perhaps my set up is wrong. I'm offering the first week free of charge. That's about 4 or 5 units depending on the course, and the following six weeks need to be paid for. I've set the first week units as free, so the student can just click on them without starting the course, and therefore they don't enter the timeline. Is there another way of doing this so the student must enter the timeline, yet can only access the first week without paying?

Sorry this is not possible, there are so many checks on the course button and student has to purchase the course to enter the course status page (course timeline). Alternatively you can create the free courses, because if the user is registered on the website then he/she can directly start the course in the course timeline. You can create courses like "course 1 free" and "course 1 paid" now the user can see the course 1 which is free and if he/she wish to continue that course then he/she has to purchase the course 1 paid course.
