Please note that even when I set "Free unit, viewable to all" to "SHOW", I am unable to access the unit without logging in.

Free units are accessible to all the users by default even the non-logged-in users.
Non-logged-in users can open the course and go to the curriculum part, then click on the free unit and it will open the unit for them.
if it is not working then please make sure you have not applied this tip on your site

ok I am applying a blank layout as there are no layouts present in vibebp>>courselayout etc
so need to rerun the setup wizard and after that will apply blank layout so version 4 template will be applied
