I'm having a great deal of problems with the forum being incredibly slow.  Not the website, it is loading fine. Cache in place. However, posting replies takes forever. And if I'm running two or three courses at a time with the increased traffic it becomes unbearable. I really would like to scale up the number of courses I am offering but very concerned the forum just can't handle it. Suggestion, please. I have students who are frustrated.

Hi, Yes the forums becomes slow with time because the data in it increases and the server takes time to load the whole content. Please contact your webhost and ask them to upgrade your server for this.

    Would you recommend a CDN?

Hi, It depends on where the slowness is. Is it on the front end i.e. loading resources and files or is it on the php level i.e. server side. If the slowness is on front end then yes CDN is effective but if the slowness is on the server side then you'll need to contact your webhost for this. You can check this on websites like gtmetrix
