What is the Difference Between Notes & Discussion and Forum

My setting "Notes and Discussion styles : Per unit" So after i choose this, there are new area called Discussion belom the Course Area. My questions are :

1. Is it different from Course Forum ?
2. Where is the Note? All i see is a "Ask Question" Form

Notes and discussion is also like that of forums but the replies and questions created in unit notes are saved as comments in unit that can be used by student to ask question and by instructor to reply them . Although you  have forums connected but the notes are specific for that unit and also user do not need to navigate to another page to discuss something . refer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3XUZgu6bss
