September 3, 2021 at 3:11 pm #369954mlapl1ParticipantHello WPLMS has lots of facilities and other things - and great service. One of the facilities it offers is to enable to install it on any theme (a theme other than the WPLMS theme). I assume that the creators of the WPLMS theme feel that their theme is superior than other themes when used with WPLMS. So my question is: What are the advantages of using the WPLMS theme as opposed to other themes? I look forward to your answer. Maybe it has been explained somewhere. Thank you. AndrewSeptember 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm #370045MrVibeKeymasterThank you for inquiry, yes it has been explained but we need to revise it and add more points. WPLMS is the best LMS for WordPress. [ https://themeforest.net/item/wplms-learning-management-system/6780226 ] If you've been following our Video series : https://www.youtube.com/user/VibeThemes/videos you will be able to see the difference and understand the reason. I will also write on the features which are coming up because they make a Huge difference. 1. Specification Compliance : We understand Education and how it works. While other LMS themes and plugins do not adhere to Education specifications such as SCORM or xAPI. We at WPLMS are fully committed to it. You can run SCORM and XAPI packages inside WPLMS and track scores. Solving real problem : Content Portability : Instructors put their heart and soul into building learning content only to find that they are trapped in a particular system. They can not migrate to other platforms because the content they created is on WordPress and non-compliant with other LMS's. In WPLMS people are running SCROM packages built in 1990's ! WPLMS Courses will be there even when there is no wordpress. With WPLMS you will be able to export your content and run in ANY LMS, this is one of the objectives of version 4 series and we are very close to releasing this feature in WPLMS. A Content authoring tool for eLearning costs around $1300 [?] per user per annum and you can compare it with the cost of WPLMS. 2. Solving Real Problems : Lack of Internet : We are from India (third world), there is little to no internet in remote places. WPLMS is an eLearning system that can run offline even without internet. Download courses in the App and run the courses even when you do not have access to Course. 3. Solving Real Problems : Server Crashes : Everybody can not afford great servers. WPLMS with latest technology runs majorly on browser. Very often you will find in WordPress community that the site goes down becuase the Server crashed. WPLMS works even with server crashes, imagine you run an Institute and run an online quiz, some 100 users submit the quiz only to find the site crashed. This does not happen in WPLMS. Because WPLMS runs in user's browser, we save the content in the browser and re-attempt submit when server is online. 4. Built for Modern Competition : You can not, just can not, compete with outdated technology, all other LMS's LearnPress/Learndash/MasterStudy/LifterLMS/WP Courseware use the same standard template model, no real innovation WPLMS uses web components . If you are creating a MOOC Platform, why would instructor create courses in your site and not on Udemy. WPLMS uses same technology like Udemy, you can create ultra fast user experiences. 5. Built for Instructors : We have kept instructor at the center and built the system around it. Instructor would never want to login to a WordPress admin panel and understand what WordPress is all about. WPLMS runs totally on front end. Easy to login, easy to create courses. 6. Fast & Scalable : Because majority WPLMS runs in the browser it is many times scalable than orignal WordPress itself. You can cache your site 100% (except for 1 PWA page) and WPLMS will run faster and scalable. The WPLMS Architecture assumes server as a scarce resource, use only when necessary that gives standard WPLMS apps an edge over competitors who run everything on the server. WPLMS uses browser based login system, so server renders same cached page everytime whereas for all other LMS / Membership plugins server has to render each page for logged in user. 7. Secure : Users who login to WPLMS do not login to WordPress. There are tons of XSS hacks that happen even in top plugins like Woocommerce leaving site vulnerable because WordPress uses a cookie based login and cookie can once extracted can be misused, a leaked admin cookie can make anyone administrator of your site. But WPLMS uses a different approach it uses a front end login platform. WordPress createed a state of the art login system back in 2005 but times have changed now WPLMS uses a JWT login system which is much safer than cookie based heavy logins. 8. RealTime data via Firebase : You must have seen that all modern sites and projects are built on Node.js. Well, WPLMS gives you best of both worlds. A relational database and a NodeJS+MongoDB framework [firebase] combined. WPLMS has features like Live chat , Quiz Contests, push notifications, instant reloads that gives an edge. 9. Technology : WPLMS uses WordPress's inbuilt react 16 (2020) libraries. The entire WPLMS framework is built in reactJS. ReactJS has a pretty good performance. We use Tus.io upload framework, draftJs editor, firebase (realtime node+mongo). Our code is more maintainable and future oriented than all other LMS themes which still use 201X technologies. 10. Mobile optimised , No jquery and no reloads : WPLMS is built for mobile. Mobile traffic is currently 60% of entire internet, naturally you need your user experience to suit mobiles. You can see this from our latest updates. jQuery is outdated, built in 2006 when there were no smart phones, WPLMS uses noJquery and when you are in PWA, there is no page loads. Which greatly enhances UX in mobile views. 11. One App framework : The WPLMS allows you to generate mobile apps for desktop, tablets, mobiles all at once and further more you can enable app to automatically adjust itself based on the person who logs in. Like we show a different screen to administrator vs a different screen to instructor when they login to the app, different dashboards, different menus. Upcoming : Artificial Intelligence integration : We have some very exciting modules which you can expct in 2021 which really change what educational content is and how a course is different from a documentation on gitbook or a youtube video series.September 4, 2021 at 3:52 pm #370050mlapl1ParticipantDear @Mr.Vibe . Thank you for your wonderful response! I live and work in Thailand and Cambodia and I understand the issues that you are referring to. I am also a long-time educationist having started in Computer-Assisted Language-Learning (CALL) a long time ago (and continuing with it). Some of the reasons for my recent interest in WPLMS is precisely SCORM and xAPI compatibility without having to purchase countless add-ons - or having the difficulties of complicated updates. I am also looking for affordable and manageable solutions for low-tech people with low-tech facilities e.g. in Thailand, Cambodia and also Indonesia. Your solution looks very promising. And also your level of helpfulness is amazing. Thank you and Congratulations! My question was specifically about the use of a theme other than the WPLMS theme. It is indeed possible to use a theme other than WPLMS (I have finally managed to instal it correctly on my server). But... from your description of the in-browser processing, I must assume that much of the work that you described in you answer is done by the theme and not just the plugin. Therefore, for maximum effect, one should use BOTH the theme and the plugin. Am I right? At the moment, I do not detect any differences in functionality between use of the WPLMS theme and a different theme (kadence in my case) - the work seems to be done by the vibebp plugin and the wplms plugin. Is the work being done only by the plugins or by the plugins AND the theme? I would be really grateful if you could answer that question for me as it will guide my decision as to the direction to take. Thank you once again. I may write to you privately over a related issue. Andrew LianSeptember 4, 2021 at 5:37 pm #370053MrVibeKeymasterAll the functions described in my previous response are from the plugins. In version 4 we extract all of the functionality which was spanning between theme & plugins and saperated the functionality into plugins and theme for designing part only. Version 3 and below WPLMS require WPLMS theme to be installed. WPLMS theme vs other themes on WPLMS framework there is not many differences. You are free to chose any theme. However we give preferences to our theme and make changes in the theme according to the plugins as well. There are great many themes which you can use with WPLMS we have tested with : Avada, enfold, astra, Divi, generatepress.September 5, 2021 at 9:37 am #370063mlapl1ParticipantThank you very much. That's really helpful. Andrew
