Please let me know if you are using yoast seo on your website, if not then please try using it.

I installed it after your advice. I haven't seen a change in how twitter posts are coming up.

The wplms theme have no such code for sharing the featured image and this is completely handled by yoast seo plugin. Also the blog posts are wordpress default posts not a custom post type like course. So try contacting the third party plugin author (yoast seo in this case) to resolve this issue.
