December 13, 2015 at 8:00 am #13704SylviaParticipantI’m adding an extra course to the site (40plusstylecourses.com) and that needs its own forum. However, even when I set it to private and only assign the new forum and group to the new course, the forum is still seen by students of another course when they go to the current forums tab. If I set it do hidden, you can see the outline of the forum in the group but you cannot access any of the topics. Groups also are visible to students of both courses if they go to the groups tab. New posts in the new forum also show up on the activity page for members of another course which is a big problem as they can now access forum posts from another course from there.
Is there any way I can still use the forums tab or should I remove it for all students?
I suppose I can let students enter the forum through the group only but that makes the navigation more complex. What is your suggestion?

Even if I remove both the forums and groups navigation tabs from the top menu (under community), students from both course still see ALL activity in the forum from both courses. How can I use the activity tab so members can only see the activity in their own course? I want to show both newest topics and newest replies.
December 14, 2015 at 8:47 am #13775Anshuman SahuKeymasterYou can try enabling the course forum privacy from lms -> settings . http://prntscr.com/9dyg8r and set your group private and connect it to the course . In this way the users which will be added to the course will be added to this private group .December 15, 2015 at 2:39 am #13885SylviaParticipantThe group was already connected to the course. But when I enable the private settings in lms settings the forums disappear altogether. And when you go to the group and click on the forum tab, you get the message that this group has no forum. How to solve?December 15, 2015 at 2:02 pm #14004Anshuman SahuKeymasterYou need to disable the forum privacy if you want to show the forums on the forums page . The course forum privacy will nit list the forums in which the student is not subscribed .December 16, 2015 at 1:24 am #14079SylviaParticipantBut all the students are subscribed to the 21 steps forum! And they are subscribed to the group. Still the forum is not visible in the group.December 16, 2015 at 11:55 am #14172Anshuman SahuKeymasterIt does not matter if the student is subscribed to the forum or not if they do not purchased the course to which the forum is connected then he cannot access that forum .December 17, 2015 at 1:31 am #14251SylviaParticipantAll the students HAVE purchased the course! I would really like some genuine help here!December 17, 2015 at 4:02 am #14275xaverParticipantYes, I have same problem! All my student can look closed forum! It's really problem!
