layerslider update refused

Hello I am experimenting with installation of wplms on a different theme. I have downloaded individual plugins according to the procedure on https://docs.wplms.io/installation/installing-wplms-on-a-fresh-wp-install for downloading plugins individually. I have downloaded and installed the plugin. An update is due but it refuses to install it. I have looked for a place to record the Item Purchase Code but there is none for layerslider. I have also tried to insert that code in the layerslider activation code slot but that also did not work. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong. I may not need layerslider. Thank you Andrew
