The credentials are working fine but nothing is changing when I try to write into files . Even I left fatal syntax error the site worked fine . The changes im trying to make in your files are not reflecting on the website and hence could not debug the issue .

check the ftp credentials are of correct server .Check if there is some kind of caching active which is not updating the data on changing the code . Clear and disable all kinds of cache on server/plugins .
